Ijo Temple – Place to Visit (Part 2)

So today, we will share a historical place located in a high place. This place is called “Candi Ijo” or in English, it’s called “Ijo Temple”. This is located in Bukit Ijo, Sambirejo Village, Prambanan District, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

What’s making this temple interesting is the location which is the highest temple in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This temple also has a wide yard with green grass. Because of the location of this temple, you can’t only enjoy the view from the temple, but also the view of the city from above which gives more experience to everyone that comes to this temple.

The other thing that’s making this temple interesting is the sculptures that you can see there which give a sign it has 2 cultures from 2 religions which are Hinduism and Buddhism. There are also some meanings related to the sculptures on this temple which is also still a mystery and is still being researched by experts.

For some short information about words in English for you… So, “Bukit” means “Peak” in English. “Ijo” it’s a Javanese word that means “Hijau” in Indonesian, which also means “Green” in English.
